Street Department

The Street Department maintains 27 center-line miles and an equal amount of alleys. They sweep the streets weekly starting in spring through fall. In the winter months they take care of plowing and salting. They also cold patch potholes in winter months and apply hot patch and Dura patch in the summer as well ad applying hot tar to cracks on the road that are staring to show wear and tear.

This department handles the mowing and maintain the licensed and unlicensed vehicles and equipment owned by the village. They are responsible for forestry duties, taking down dead or damaged trees and overgrowth on village streets and in the parks and fall leaf pick up.

The Street Department also maintains 91,020 feet of storm drains and 750 catch basins. They also take care of painting cross walks, curbs, and parking spaces. They place barriers for special events, erect flags, banners and holiday decorations downtown.

Please don’t blow grass clippings into the street as it can cause a safety hazard as well as clogging up catch basins.
In winter months, please refrain from parking on the streets during snowy conditions. This cooperation ensures efficient snow clearance by our plows.
