Employee Spotlight

Kara Marki

EMT/Firefighter

Kara joined the EPFD in December of 2023, after graduating as an EMT from the New Waterford Fire Department in 2020. Kara said “I love being an EMT because I can help someone on the worst day of their life. I can reassure a patient or loved one that we are going to do everything we can for that person. I genuinely care about people. I wanted to pursue the fire class so I could help people even more.” She is a mom of two beautiful little girls, and recently became engaged. And she said “As far as hobbies or interests go, I like going to haunted houses with my fiancé, hanging out with my kiddos and EMS/FD family, and I love cats.”

“MYID” PROGRAM

East Palestine Fire Dept EMS is partnering with MyID to provide a method to safely store and allow retrieval of critical medical information in time of need by medical service providers. This is a program that provides a cloud-based system to store and manage medical information to provide first-responders vital data on your medical issues/allergies/medications in the event you can’t communicate with them. Users create a free medical profile and emergency medical personnel simply scan the QR code on the bracelet or wallet card to access your online medical profile in a few short seconds.
